On the 7th – 9th July, our North American Agent – Bob DeShane ([email protected]) had the pleasure of attending the Out of The Woodwork event hosted by TVRCCNA.

The annual event was held in Kalamazoo, MI and held in conjunction with the Mad Dogs and Englishmen Event at the Gilmore Car Museum.

Located in the rolling hills outside Kalamazoo, MI, the Gilmore collection contains over 400 cars.

Started as a hobby in 1963 by Donald Gilmore, chairman of the Upjohn Company at the time, it has grown from 36 cars to over 400! It opened to the public in 1966 as a non-profit educational institution dedicated to preserving the history and heritage of the automobile in America. It is situated on 90 acres outside Kalamazoo, MI and has a total of 190,000 square feet of exhibit space. It is housed in a recreated factory building from the turn of the century. It is within a historic campus of historic buildings including 8 restored barns, a working authentic 1940’s diner, a recreated 1930 Shell station and includes recreated dealerships for Franklin, Model A Ford, Lincoln, and Cadillac. There are nearly 3 miles of paved roads, on which antique cars as well as the Museum’s London Taxi, Checker Cab, Model T and London Double Decker bus can often be seen traveling around the grounds.

There were 300 or so British cars on show at the event with most being MG’sTriumphsJaguars and Minis.

Included in the 300 cars were 27 TVR’s, mostly earlier M’s & Taimars and Wedges due to the import restrictions to the USA
